I found that the Primo Grand Restaurant in Minot has some decent reviews, so I decided to go and check it out myself. For me, any excuse to go out to dinner (smiles).. Jan Ashby

Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday brunch is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The dinner on Sunday is 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. Btw, this restaurant can handle wedding receptions. There is one young lady (I found on TripAdvisor) who chose food service for both the wedding reception, and a BUFFET the following morning.

This is a LARGE restaurant, and the seating is booths and table/chair combos. Tablecloths are used, as well as fancy water glasses. If you desire a cocktail before dinner, you can be served right at your table.

My review is as follows:

Nice ambience. I had no complaints with the service, or the portions. Our server (a very friendly Phillipina woman) was attentive to our needs. She brought out some bread immediately – and with it, some freshly-squeezed herbs to dip the fancy bread in. Dee-lightful !

For my entree, I chose a breakfast option. To be specific, bacon/scrambled eggs and hash browns; the hash browns were cooked to perfection. They were browned, but not overdone. I enjoyed my bacon, as it was of high quality.

My companion had the Prime Rib. He ordered it “medium rare”, and the chef did a bang-up job. It was delicious (yes, of course I had a bite)! Lawrence (my dining companion) had garlic mashed potatoes, as it accompanied the entree. Scrumptious, he said.

The portions were so generous that I managed to have some food at the end – which I took up to my room at the Grand Hotel, and placed in the mini-frig.

Oh, one thing I left out – the Laphroaig scotch I ordered had a wonderful, smoky essence to it. In case you don’t know, Laphroaig is a 10-year old single malt whiskey. In fact, the Grand Hotel Restaurant offers several scotches.
